This is a great show of support from the FoM.  I know your contribution would be greatly appreciated by the Malaysians—who already worship the PCVs!  I was reminded again of your iconic status when I went to Kelantan two weeks ago to see the affected areas, especially around Kuala Krai.  The chief minister in Kota Baru recalled his Peace Corps English teacher and the sense of purpose and “can do” spirit you all provided to the young Malays.

 

The flood victims here need serious help.  I am glad that Washington was able to give some $1.5 million.  I was also delighted that the Embassy community, Americans and Malaysians, donated some cash too.
