Join Peace Corps Connect+ for Friends of Malaysia

A new platform, hosted by the National Peace Corps Association, invites all Malaysia RPCVs to join discussions, find RPCV members, and sign up for events. The platform is called Connect+ and is hosted by the National Peace Corps Association. To join, just provide some basic user info and then select Friends of Malaysia as one of your Groups. FOM Members Contribute $18,426 to the Peace Corps Park

Friends of Malaysia (FoM) has been collecting donations for the planned Peace Corps Park in DC near Capitol Hill. The Park will honor the service of all those who have served in the Peace Corps and remind the public that the Peace Corps still exists and is looking to future generations for volunteers to serve humanity around the globe.

As of July 8, 2025, $18,426 has been donated by 41 FoM members (multiple contributions are noted by an asterisk below). You are so generous! The Peace Corps Foundation (also known as the Peace Corps Commemorative Foundation) states that $6.1 million of the needed $12 million goal has been raised from 1,564 donors. (www.peacecorpscommemorative.org).

For those who have not yet gotten around to donating or would like to make an additional donation, there is still time. No donation is too small. Participation is so important to show the interest of the RPCV community and hopefully some very wealthy donors will help us get to our goal. The easiest way to donate is to use the Peace Corps Foundation-Friends of Malaysia online button with your credit card. Or alternatively, you can write a check and mail it the Peace Corps Foundation (details here); be sure to write "Credit to Friends of Malaysia" on the memo line. All donations will be recognized on the FoM Digital Wall of Honor (see below) and also on the Peace Corps Park website.

How to Engage with Friends of Malaysia

Friends of Malaysia, an affiliate organization of the National Peace Corps Association (NPCA), welcomes all RPCVs to continue their life of service at home and to share their Peace Corps experiences so that future generations will be inspired to find meaning in helping others. As a 501(c3) nonprofit, Friends of Malaysia is an all-volunteer organization with zero expenses. All contributions to Friends of Malaysia are used to make small grants to Malaysian NGOs that serve the public good, primarily to peoples and places left behind. On the About FoM page of the website, you can make a contribution to FoM, nominate a Malaysian NGO for a small grant, and learn how FoM won the NPCA Loret Miller Ruppe Award for Outstanding Committe Service three times!
